História do Dachshund
Esta raça teve origem no século XV na Alemanha e seu nome Dachshund quando traduzido literalmente significa “cão texugo”. Este nome lhe foi dado pois eram muito utilizados como cães de caça de texugos. Porém, eles são ótimos caçando coelhos, raposas e outros animais, pois possuem um faro muito apurado. O primeiro padrão descrito para o Dachshund foi em 1879, porém, somente 9 anos depois o German Dachshund Club foi fundado. Somente no início de 1900 que a raça se tornou popular e em 1913 foi considerada uma das dez mais populares.
Padrão da raça
Assim como todas as raças, o Dachshund também possui um padrão a ser seguido. Segundo a Confederação de Cinofilia do Brasil ele deve ser um cão baixo, com pernas curtas, mas comprido. Compacto e musculoso, deve estar atento e expressar orgulho. Deve mostrar por sua aparência ser macho ou fêmea. Podem ter três tamanhos diferentes:
- Standard: Machos: de 37 cm a 47 cm e Fêmeas: 35 cm a 45 cm;
- Miniatura: Machos: de 32 cm a 37 cm e Fêmeas: 30 cm a 35 cm;
- Kaninchen: Machos: de 27 cm a 32 cm e Fêmeas: de 25 cm a 30 cm;
Sua altura deve ser medida com pelo menos 15 meses. Possuem expectativa de vida de 13 a 15 anos.
Segundo o padrão da raça Dachshund, eles podem possuir três variações de pelo, sendo elas:
- Curto: devem possuir pelo curto, brilhante, áspero, denso, não mostrando áreas com falhas de pelo, sua cauda deve ser fina e cheia de pelos, sem falhas;
- Duro: devem possuir todo o corpo com subpelo, denso, uniforme e totalmente ajustado, coberto com pelos duros, exceto focinho, orelhas e sobrancelhas. Sua barba precisa ser claramente definida. A pelagem da orelha deve ser mais curta e quase lisa. A cauda deve ser coberta com um pelo aderente de forma uniforme;
- Longo: deve possuir subpelo e o pelo deve ser liso e brilhante, bem ajustado ao corpo, sendo mais alongado na parte do corpo e na parte inferior do pescoço. Porém, seu maior comprimento deve ser na cauda, onde deve formar uma bandeira completa.
Cores do Dachshund
O Dachshund pode ser encontrado em várias cores diferentes, mas algumas delas são: chocolate, castanho, cinza, preto e canela, creme, marrom e arlequim. Muito cuidado na hora de escolher um filhote arlequim, pois existem muitos lugares que cruzam estes cães indevidamente, fazendo com que nasçam com problemas de audição e visão.
Temperamento
Mesmo sendo um cão pequeno, o Dachshund é extremamente corajoso, valente e muito companheiro. Mas, também podem ser teimosos e independentes quando querem, principalmente quando começam a caçar. O Dachshund ama o contato com o tutor, gosta de ficar por perto ganhando carinho ou fazendo companhia. São muito inteligentes, brincalhões e independentes. Gostam muito de se exercitar, porém, quando cansados, ninguém os tira do lugar.
